Permen Gula "Sugar Candy"

Everybody of my age in Indonesia ought to remember the sweetness of childhood through this sweet : Permen Gula

The name of this sweet if translated literally becomes "Sugar Candy". Sounds very sweet, huh? In fact, it is, because it's made entirely with sugar, but the sweetness is subtle. It is made with a mix of brown sugar and white sugar, melted together, dyed, and then shaped into particulary anything, and left until hard enough to bite. 

You would see some of these sold with predetermined shapes (like flowers or birds), but if the seller is in the middle of making it, you could make a request and he will make it, as long as it is not too complicated. This is grouped as traditional snack and a bit hard to find in the cities, especially big ones. I often had this snack when I was really young, so this is a bit of nostalgia. It is cheap, too, you should be able to buy it for Rp 1.000-5.000
